An old family heirloom. Ron Thuma of Kansas received seeds from George Jennings of Waverly, Kansas in 1992 through his daughter, Anise Barnes Jennings who inherited seeds from her Grandpa Barnes who grew this variety during the Civil War era as an ornamental plant since he believed tomatoes were not edible. These large pink beefsteak tomatoes have an outstanding, full, complex flavor with meaty flesh.
