AKA Pole Orca Beans. This bean variety came to us from the DePerro family in Ohio who have been growing this bean for 3 generations. They named it the Italian Green Bean to honor their heritage. The dry bean resembles the pattern of the Orca bean, which is also known as the Calypso and Yin Yang bean. Though regularly a bush bean variety, this particular bean grows as a pole.
This delicious bean is the one you should grow for use in baking and soups! They have a mild flavor and a creamy rich texture. The beans double in size when cooked but hold their shape well. They can be used as a snap or dry bean. These eye-catching black and white beans will have you growing them year after year!
