Hawaiian Sweet Hot A.K.A. “Waialua” is a great little chile developed by the University of Hawaii. It is ideal for the southeast US as well, where humidity and heat rule in the summer months. Waialua is said to perform better in humid climates than the jalapeño. An easy-to-grow bushy plant that produces many chiles that ripen from green to red. It has a high Jalapeno heat level with some sweetness. However once cooked it loses some heat and gains more sweetness. The Hawaiian Sweet Hot chiles are great for stir fry, seasoning powder, pickling, and fresh salsa! The Hawaiian sweet hot chiles plants grow just over 3 feet tall. Non-Isolated.
