Also known as the Shipka’s Pepper, the Bulgarian Carrot heirloom pepper was supposedly smuggled out through the Iron Curtain in the 1980s. The plants produce orange-colored peppers resembling carrots that have a medium heat. Bulgarian Carrot is one of the best varieties you can find for roasting, pickling, chopping into salsa and chutney, or adding a colorful tint to glazes and marinades.
