Details

This pepper variety is quite rare but becoming very popular these days. This is the traditional cooking pepper from the North African country of Tunisia on the famed Barbary coast of Africa. In old times, people used to consider it as the ‘breadbasket’ of the Roman Empire. People admire this pepper for its unique hot flavor which does not suppress the taste of other ingredients in food. Similar in size to most large New Mexico varieties at 6" in length, but with lots more flavor and heat! Fruits have a good, fruity flavor and an interesting combination of sweet and spice that make them popular for hot sauces and eating fresh. Used in dishes with couscous and a traditional chili paste called Harissa that is used in North Africa and Arab countries as a condiment. Great for roasting, stuffing, or making savory sauces. The Tunisian Baklouti chili plants can get over 3 feet tall and are very productive. Non-Isolated.
