An old French romaine heirloom variety from 1885 with green, bronze, and deep red leaves, and an excellent sweet, buttery flavor. As its translated name Red of Winter implies, this variety does particularly well in the cool conditions of the fall and winter. Good regrowth. Can be grown for salad leaves or full-size heads.
