Details
An annual vining vegetable native to Northwestern Zambia and cultivated by Indigenous farmers offers a dual culinary purpose. The young fruits, mottled green, are wholly edible and taste similar to cucumber, while the mature fruits feature a hard shell with green and yellow stripes, serving as a scoopable source of nutritious seeds and hydrating water. This new species from the Cucurbitaceae family is grown using a standard garden culture similar to cucumbers.
