Lacy leaves with clusters of small daisy-like flowers have a strong camphor smell and have been used historically to treat migraines, fevers, menstrual cramps, tension, lower blood pressure and aid digestion. There is some scientific evidence that drinking feverfew tea, or adding a few fresh leaves leaves to a sandwich everyday can for some people reduce the frequency and severity of migraine headaches.
No herb garden is complete without Feverfew. This bushy perennial is a must-have for fragrance, bright color, and pest-fighting abilities! When crushed, the leaves release a strong citrus scent. Heavenly! It also makes a nice filler in bouquets.
This herb does such a good job of repelling pests that rose growers often make it part of their planting. The daisies complement the rose blooms nicely in the garden. And Feverfew is a lovely addition to the cutting garden, doing double duty of discouraging destructive insects AND offering handsome daisies.
Bees avoid this plant, so if you have a family member with a bee allergy, it's an excellent choice for the edge of the patio, driveway, and other heavily trafficked areas.
