Details
Annual in the Nightshade Family. White trumpet flowers with lavender inside their throats decorate a bat-like plant whose leaves smell of peanut butter. Seedpods are covered in spines, which gave this plant the name “Thorn Apple”. Continuous blooming through frost. Also known as Jimson Weed; “Jim” refers to “Jamestown”, the European settlement that failed when the populace ingested this plant, went crazy, and knocked themselves off. (This was apparently at the encouragement of the local indigenous folks, who knew trouble when they saw it!) All parts of the plant are toxic.
