Details

Blue Vervain produces long-lasting blue flower spikes and is a larval host/nectar source for the Common Buckeye butterfly. It is a historic wildflower that is common over most of the world. It appears in Roman history as a plant used to soak in fuel and then used as a torch. The ancient Druids of Ireland considered Blue Vervain to have supernatural powers and held it in high esteem. Blue Vervain has traditionally been used for a wide range of imbalances, including colds, coughs, flus and more. Some say the plant resembles a candelabra with blue flames! Blue Vervain is a wild verbena and grows up to 5 or 6 feet. This is a good, non-invasive plant for your wildflower garden. Add it to the back of your border for a pretty display from midsummer through fall. Beautiful in wildflower arrangements.
