Over 100 years old, this 1902 introduction remains a worldwide standard for large-fruited purplish-black eggplants. It was an immediate hit because the plants ripened perfect fruits dramatically earlier than other varieties, and became the common market eggplant of today. Originally from Asia, eggplant is a staple of Indian and Asian cuisines. It’s excellent in a variety of dishes, grilled, baked, roasted, pickled, mashed, dried, breaded or fried. Each plant produces 4-6 large fruits or more if kept harvested and well watered.
