Details

The Dwarf Black Angus Tomato is a standout creation from the Dwarf Tomato Project, a collaborative breeding effort that has brought unique, compact varieties to gardeners worldwide. Developed between 2012 and 2017, this variety belongs to the "Cheerful" family, originating from a cross between 'Summertime Green' and 'Sweet Adelaide,' created by Patrina Nuske Small. Craig LeHoullier selected and named this variety in honor of his father-in-law, Harry Angus. Further selection and stabilization were contributed by Denise Salmon, Dee Sackett, Robin Bort, Susan Oliverson, and Bob Franklin, with Bill Minkey growing the release seed stock for its 2018 debut.

This dwarf, regular leaf variety produces generous yields of 6-12 ounce smooth, oblate, purple fruits. The tomatoes are visually stunning, with a rich, deep hue and smooth skin, and their flavor is equally impressive—rich, complex, and beautifully balanced, making them perfect for slicing, fresh eating, or culinary creations.
