Attractive shape has made 'SMR 58', developed by the University of Wisconsin, the standard home garden pickle for many years. It's a very productive plant with lots of fruit that are blocky and slightly tapered with black spines. 2 1/2" x 6". This is said to be the absolute best non-hybrid pickling cucumber. Crisp, fresh and sweet - this pickle can not be beat. If you love making homemade pickles then you must try this great pickling cucumber. Perfect cucumber for those with short season or in northern climates. Plant dill 2-3 weeks earlier for use in making pickles. The plant is resistant to Cucumber Mosaic virus and Scab disease.
